What Tax and Charges This Energy Calculator Estimates?

The bill calculator gives you an estimation of your electric power bill considering the following amount, charges, and taxes:

Cost of Electricity:

The first thing this online calculator evaluates is the cost of electricity used. The government of Pakistan has declared an Electricity Tariff or cost of electricity for every single unit of consumption. According to this, the FESCO bill calculator gives you the total amount of power charges applied to you for the current month’s bill. This cost is directly dependent on the units consumed, if you use more units, your cost of electricity will increase and vice versa.

F.C Surcharge:

Financing Cost Surcharge, also known as F.S. Surcharge, is another cost that FESCO online calculator evaluates. It’s a type of electricity production expense that all citizens pay with their bills to balance the government budget. For every single kilowatt usage, you have to pay 0.43 paisa as F.C Surcharge. When you add your consumed units in the bill calculator, the amount of F.S. Surcharge is auto-evaluated on each electric kilowatt and a sum is added to your overall estimated bill.

Electricity Duty:

The online bill calculator also assumes the Electricity Duty on your monthly bill as per Government charges of 1% to 1.5% in various sectors, including domestic, commercial, industrial, etc. It’s a provincial tax applied to all citizens according to Article 157, Section 13 of the West Pakistan Finance Act 1964 of the constitution of Pakistan.

TV Fee:

The FESCO Online Bill Calculator also adds a TV fee to your bill amount. It’s a Pakistan Television Corporation (PTV) related Television fee, imposed on every electricity consumer of Pakistan living within or outside the FESCO service area. Usually, the dedicated amount is 35 rupees. However, you can exempt this amount from your bill by submitting a form to a nearby FESCO office.

GST:

GST, which also stands for General Sales Tax, is a crucial cost added to your monthly electricity bill. It is a solid 17% of your consumed electric units or kilowatt hours (kWh) that you pay with every energy bill. The FESCO calculator also auto-charges this expense and displays it on your bill.

N.J Surcharge:

An additional expense that the bill calculator takes out is N.J. Surcharge or Neelum Jhelum Surcharge dedicated to the Neelum Jhelum Hydro Power Development project. Consumers pay 0.10 paisa for each electric unit used. The amount collected from this surcharge is utilized to fund the Neelum Jhelum project in Pakistan.

Total Estimated Bill:

Finally, the FESCO bill calculator gives you an overall estimation of this month’s bill by adding up all the above mentioned costs, charges, and taxes. It’s an assumed amount, which might change as you keep consuming more electricity units.
